OpenAI launches a sub-$5 ChatGPT plan in India

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Go in India. This is its cheapest subscription plan, costing only ₹399 per month (about $4.60). This India-only plan sits below the ₹1,999 ChatGPT Plus tier. It provides up to 10× more messages, images, and file uploads. Plus, it has double the memory compared to the free tier. OpenAI wants to boost accessibility in its second-largest market. It plans to expand this offering to other regions based on user feedback.

Eight Sleep raises $100M to expand its AI-powered sleep tech

Eight Sleep, known for its AI-powered Pod smart mattress covers, has secured $100 million in Series D funding. This boosts its total funding to about $260 million. The round had notable backers like HSG, Founders Fund, Valor Equity Partners, Y Combinator, and F1 figures Charles Leclerc and Zak Brown. The funding will speed up the development of the AI Sleep Agent. It will also support medical uses, like treating sleep apnea and menopause, as they seek FDA approval. Additionally, it will help expand globally, especially into China and retail stores.

Key Highlights:

• AI Sleep Agent Coming Soon: The company is developing a Sleep Agent that uses LLMs. This will make a personal “digital twin.” It will adjust temperature, elevation, and bedtime routines to boost recovery.

• Medical-Grade Aspirations: Eight Sleep is expanding its biometric monitoring. They are creating AI tools for managing sleep apnea and supporting menopause. Their goal is to achieve FDA approval.

AI crawler Firecrawl raises $14.5M, is still looking to hire agents as employees

Firecrawl has raised $14.5 million in Series A funding. Nexus Venture Partners led the round, with Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke and Y Combinator also participating. The San Francisco company offers an open-source web crawler and a commercial API. Over 350,000 developers and businesses, including Shopify, Replit, Zapier, and hedge funds, use their tools. Firecrawl is already making a profit. It plans to expand its API features and create tools. These tools will ensure content creators get paid when their work is used in AI training.

• Series A Funding & Backers: Nexus Venture Partners led this round. They were joined by Y Combinator and Shopify’s CEO, Tobias Lütke. This funding will drive product innovation and team growth.

• Trusted by Developers & Enterprises: Firecrawl’s web crawler is well-liked. It has 350,000 developers and 50,000 GitHub stars. Notable clients include Shopify, Replit, and major hedge funds.
