Nvidia’s AI empire: A look at its top startup investments

Nvidia is quickly growing beyond GPUs. They are putting a lot of money into AI startups. In 2025 alone, it has taken part in nearly 50 startup deals, already more than it did in 2024. Nvidia is funding firms in AI models, robotics, autonomous vehicles, and data infrastructure. This support comes from its venture arm, NVentures.
Key Points:
Nvidia’s portfolio features big names such as OpenAI, xAI, Mistral AI, Reflection AI, Thinking Machines Lab, Figure AI, and Wayve.
Nvidia often invests between $500M and $2B. This shows their strong commitment to shaping the AI landscape.
The company says it wants to back “game-changing innovators” that define the next decade of AI.
Nvidia invests throughout the ecosystem. This makes startups depend on its hardware, creating a strong feedback loop.
Why It Matters:
Nvidia is shifting from being a chipmaker to a major investor and influencer in global AI development.
Its investments strengthen its dominance while aligning the AI industry around its technology.
But the strategy has risks. If AI regulation tightens or startups fail, Nvidia might face big losses.
California becomes first state to regulate AI companion chatbots

California is moving forward with a bill—SB 243—to regulate AI companion chatbots. This aims to protect minors and vulnerable users. If these rules become law, the state will be the first in the U.S. to set safety standards for chatbots that serve as friends or emotional companions.
Key Points:
What are “companion chatbots”? These AI systems are made to have human-like, emotional conversations. They act as social or emotional companions.
Prohibited Content: The bill would prevent companion chatbots from discussing suicide, self-harm, or sexual topics.
User disclosures & reminders: Platforms should regularly inform users, especially minors, that they are engaging with an AI, not a real person. They might also suggest taking breaks.
Transparency & accountability: AI companies would have to submit annual reports, maintain transparency about operations, and be liable if they violate the rules.
Legal recourse for users: People who believe harm was done because a chatbot broke the rules could pursue legal action (damages, injunctions).
Timing & implementation: If signed, the law would take effect January 1, 2026.

Salesforce announces Agentforce 360 as enterprise AI competition heats up

Salesforce has launched Agentforce 360. This is the latest version of its AI agent platform, just in time for the Dreamforce conference. The update includes improved agent prompts, better reasoning models, new building tools, and enhanced Slack integration. Salesforce is pushing hard to compete in the crowded enterprise AI space.
Key Points:
Agent Script: A new beta tool arrives in November. It allows users to add “if/then” logic to agents. This makes them more adaptable in unpredictable situations.
Reasoning models: The platform uses reasoning agents from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google Gemini. These agents try to “think before responding” instead of just following patterns.
Agentforce Builder & Vibes: A tool to build, test, and deploy agents from one interface. The “Vibes” feature adds a kind of “app vibe coding” capability.
Slack Integration: Salesforce will show Agentforce features in Slack. This lets agents take actions and access insights right in the messaging app.
Competition & context:
The enterprise AI space is getting exciting. Google has launched Gemini Enterprise, and Anthropic is gaining traction with Claude Enterprise.
Salesforce says Agentforce has 12,000 customers, outpacing its rivals. Early pilots for Agentforce 360 feature brands like Lennar, Adecco, and Pearson.
The company faces challenges too. A recent MIT study found that 95% of enterprise AI pilots fail before they reach production.
